EXPERTS ON THE ROAD 2008: Metzeler Journey is still going on

When in 2007 Metzeler organised the EXPERTS ON THE ROAD event it was an important moment in the long history of the brand. The journey for Metzeler started in 1892, but in the last ten years the brand’s journey has been shaped in some ways by its deep DNA.

There’s no bike traveller who doesn’t know Metzeler, and the brand is found in the spirit of the journey and the community, why some important values recognised as the common drivers between tyre producer and bikers.

After a year Metzeler has evolved the concept of the community, thanks to the web 2.0 activities and the openness of some bikers groups which have started to work with Metzeler in cyberspace – and in person. Alongside this work, the market is evolving both from a bike manufacturer and end-user perspective.
Metzeler shared the journey with these real bikers for whom a blog was set up, allowing opinion debates and idea sharing. These bikers become real protagonists, testing the tyres and offering their vision, sharing their needs and in a way finding in Metzeler a new friend for their tours.

Metzeler EXPERTS ON THE ROAD 2008 continues the journey started last year offering a route with thousands of corners and hundreds of peaks to cross on the way from Turin to Lucern and then to Munich. This is where it all began with the Metzeler foundation.

Sharing this kind of journey allows individual bikers to live it with friends, under the common interest of enjoyment and performance. The 2008 event has evolved to include three different Metzeler products on a variety of machines with differing characteristics. With the right fitment Metzeler demonstrates the different ways of making a journey.

Enduro bikes equipped with a 17” rim like the BMW GS can exploit the Tourance EXP performance facing a twisty mountain road in a way a street bike does. The street bikes that participate in this event will be equipped with Roadtec Z6 Interact, the milestone that Metzeler offer to world wide globe trotters. Bikes belonging to the “Dual Purpose” segment like the Honda Varadero, find the perfect fitment with the Tourance tyres, completing the bikes’ scenario and the travellers’ imagination.
Mountain passes are the natural playground for every bike enthusiast and with a tour like this it is easy to see how Metzeler’s capability for making outstanding tyres can allow different bikes and thus different bikers, to live with their own riding style with the common, same riding philosophy.
