INTERACT technology The modular winding process of 0° steel belt used in the new RACETEC guarantees progressive pressure distribution, offering tailored solutions to the different needs of each lean angle with no discontinuity of performance. The MIRS process was the original platform allowing development of this technology, which for the new RACETEC has been extended also to the traditional process. The performance of the compound over the surface of the tyre is influenced by the steel belt winding tension. The central area of the tyre demands the requires the widest contact patch because it must transmission torque forces to the ground during accelerating and braking and: lowering the tension in the crown area makes the carcass more flexible and absorb more energy, so the tyre can better adapt to the ground through this enlarged footprint. On the racetrack and while leaning, the tyre is subjected pressures from the vehicle weight’s and centrifugal forces, thus a higher steel belt winding tension of the shoulder area ensures trajectory precision as well as maximum and uniform pressure of the contact patch. The number of steel strings inside the tyre guarantees an equal consistency of performances, avoiding any “step” effect and the optimization of footprint area gives the most progressive response at all lean angles. ![]()
